I’ve been feeling so creatively unmotivated for the past few months (which is insanely frustrating). But I’m finally feeling the urge to create stuff again, thank goodness! So the other day I decided to paint one of the offices at the farmhouse. Totally spur of the moment, but I love how it’s coming together!

I was thinking about adding a line of text after the arrow…what do you think? What would you write? (Don’t forget we have to see it everyday)

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but I’m looking forward to refreshed creativity. Thanks for sticking around, you guys!

Still not sure what to wear tonight to your New Years Eve party? Here’s a couple looks that would be perfect for a special night out!

Julie’s look is super classic with this little black dress. If you’re going with a LBD, look for one with unique details and a current cut. (Think: What would Kate Middleton pin on Pinterest?) She accents her simple dress with black and gold glam and adds a bright pink lip to add a pop of color.

Jer hardly wear suits, so when he does he likes to go with something a little less expected. So right now, that’s navy. You’re event will most likely be filled with charcoal and black so navy is a great curve ball. The rest is in the details, most importantly the socks.

Since Los Angeles doesn’t give us any snow to play in, I decided to throw together a little snowman kit to send off to my nephew so that he could build one for me!

I included: a scarf, 4 extra large buttons, plastic carrot, corncob pipe, and two pieces of coal. I found a large box at a local party supply store and wrapped it all up with a thick red ribbon. It’s an easy gift for any little ones (and big!) in your life!

So glad for the weekend…and a rainy weekend at that!

The weather is changing and I couldn’t be happier. It’s been raining for the past few days in Los Angeles (!!!) and this would be a great look to take an after the rain stroll. These looks are all about layers and bundling up.

For the guys Jeremy said, “I’m one of those guys who doesn’t mind a tailored sweat pant on the weekend. They work if we pay attention to all the other details.” And for Julie’s look, she took a slouchy sweater and some leggings and paired it with a classic black bag. And those Kate Spade mittens! How cute are they!

This week Jeremy focused on mixing comfort with understated luxury.The highlight is the Ralph Lauren Denim Supply Camo sweater. It’s a modern twist on a classic fall/winter look. “American style has always influenced the my own personal style. I tried to pick items that all paid homage to the U.S. of A.”

Julie’s look is classic and comfortable. “I’m big on investing in quality versus quantity (when you can), these boots are a great find. Beautiful seam detailing, all leather and made in Italy.” And the bag adds a unique vintage feel to complete the look.

This week Jeremy and Julie created two looks to wear to work. If you’re a freelancer like me, lots of meetings have been done in the comfort of my freelance pants (aka pj’s). But these would be great outfits for that first client meeting. Each look has fun pops of color and personality — no more of that stuffy office look! Profesh. (also pretty sure I need that Internet sweatshirt.)

Best Made is such a great company. Looking at their site always makes me want to go on some adventure or stay in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Sure, I probably don’t need an axe….

01. It’s been a long time since I’ve earned a merit badge…and it’s only made better with a pun! (But what’s not better with a pun, really?)

02. These steel mugs are my favorite. Comes in a set of two.

These bars are so incredibly delicious (and simple)! Whenever I make them, the whole tray usually disappears within a day. You wouldn’t expect them to be so addicting — but at least you’ve been warned!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 cup oats

1 1/2 sticks butter

Jar of apricot jam (I buy apricot/pineapple)

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients together, then add melted butter and mix with hands. Spread about a 1/2” thick layer into a 13” x 9” pan — you won’t be using all of the mix just yet. Then spread a thin layer of jam (about a cup) over the base. I melt mine down for a bit to make it spread easier. And don’t worry if you don’t perfectly cover every inch, it will melt in the oven and spread on its own. Lastly, top it off with the remaining mix.

Bake for around 30-35 minutes at 350º. Enjoy!

I’m so excited to have two of my cute friends be new contributors to this blog! Meet Jeremy and Julie. Jeremy is a designer at Roots and is soon coming out with his own line. Julie is the creative brand director at Au Lit Fine Linens and co-founder of Edmoure Ralph.

‘His + Hers’ will be a couple of outfits centered around a theme — this week it’s a fall picnic because I’m seriously in love with the weather right now. I love their take on a picnic blanket and basket. Plus, I’d totally wear that outfit. So good! What look would you like to see?
